Veronica Colondam founded Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB, or Loving the Nation's Children Foundation), an independent non-profit, social foundation in 1999 out of her deep concern for the increasing incidence of drug abuse problem amongst Indonesian youth. YCAB's Youth Against Drug Abuse Club has graduated over 30,000 members, trained almost a million youths nationwide, and successfully mobilized the mass media in helping shape public opinion on drug abuse and impress upon the government the urgent need for primary prevention policies.
YCAB was commissioned by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to act as Regional Coordinator of the Global Youth Network in 2004 and in 2007 received UN ECOSOC Consultative Status.
Veronica received the National Gold Award from the Indonesian President in 2003. In 2001, at 29, she became the youngest recipient of the United Nation's Vienna Civil Society Award.
She is a published author and weekly contributor to Media Indonesia daily and kickandy.com. Received her MSc. from the Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicines. Veronica is a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and a fellow of Asia Society's Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative.
She lives in Jakarta with her husband and three children.
